Gangtey Trek

A seasonable easy trek passing through picturesque valley and encountering a multitude of colourful flora and fauna, this trek is famous for the black-necked cranes, which fly down from Tibet to spend winter in this region.

Season: January to June; September to December

Day 01: Arrive Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 02: Paro sightseeing (Ta Dzong, Rinpung Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong). In the evening drive to Thimphu, enroute visit simtokha Dzong. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 03: Thimphu sightseeing ( Tashichhodzong, Memorial Chorten, Handicrafts Emporium, National Library, painting School, Textile Museum) and in the evening drive to Punakha across Dochula pass. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha .
Day 04: Drive to Gangtey Gompa, Trek from Gangtey Gompa to Gogona, distance 17kms, time –6/7 hours, max alt. 11,000ft. Overnight camp.
Day 05: Gogona- Khotokha, distance-16kms, time – 6/7 hours, max alt. 11,155ft. Overnight camp.
Day 06: Khotokha- Wachy, distance – 13kms, time – 5/6 hours, max alt. 7,500ft. Overnight camp.
Day 07: Wachy- Paro, after end of trek, drive to Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 08: Paro Depart.
