Laya Gasa Hotspring Trek

This trek heads northwest from Paro, Passes Jumolhari base camp and continues to the remote village of Lingshi, Like Jumolhari, the trek route has a combination of thick forests of rhododendron, willow, oak, blue pine, golden birch, juniper and wildlife like snow leopard, takin, musk deer, blue sheep and marmots.

Season: January to May; October to December.

Day 1: Arrive Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 02: Paro sightseeing (excursion to Taktsang Monastery, visit to Ta Dzong, Rinpung Dzong). Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 03: Paro – Shana, distance 14kms., time 5/6 hours,max alt. 9,240ft. overnight camp.
Day 04: Shana-Thangthangkha, distance –22kms, time –8/9 hours, max alt. 12,170ft. Overnight camp
Day 05: Thangthangkha- Jangothang, distance –16kms, time –5/6 hours, max alt. 13,750ft. Overnight camp.
Day 06: Jangothang-Lingshi, distance –19kms,time –7/8hours,max alt. 15,500ft. Overnight camp
Day 07: Lingshi- Chebisa, distance –15kms, time –5/6 hours. Overnight camp.
Day 08: Chebisa- Shomuthang, distance – 17kms, time –7/8 hours, max alt. 14,280ft. Overnight camp.
Day 09: Shomuthang- Tsharijathang, distance –18kms, time –7/8 hours, max alt. 15,088ft. Overnight camp.
Day 10: Tsharijathang- Lemithang, distance –19kms, time –8/9 hours, max alt.16,500ft. Overnight camp.
Day 11: lemithang- Laya, distance –10kms., time –4/5 hours. Overnight camp.
Day 12: Laya- Koena, distance –19kms, time –7/8 hours, max alt. 11,628ft. Overnight camp.
Day 13: Koena-Gasa Hot Spring, distance –17kms, time –6/7 hours. Overnight camp.
Day 14: Gasa- Geomdambji, distance –10kms, time –4/5hours. Overnight camp.
Day 15: Geomdamji- Punakha distance – 8 kms, time – 3/4 hours. Overnight camp.
Day 16: Punakha -Thimphu, enroute stop by Punakha Dzong. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 17: Thimphu sightseeing (National Library, School of arts and crafts, Textile museum, Handicrafts Emporium, Tashichhodzong, Memorial Chorten) and in the evening drive to Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 18: Paro Depart.
